Text From Source: Hi Steve I am very sure I have the right John Baldock from England. He is my great grandfather. I had spent a lot of time searching. He came to Australia about 1873. On his death Cert. of 1927, states in Aust. for 54 year. The problem I had was no parents were stated on his marriage and death cert. but that he was born in Canterbury, Kent, England. Also I had his age. The other info I had was that he was a twin. I spent many hours doing a process of elimination using the BDMs of England and census. I looked at births at least 5 years each side of 1850. John and Emily were the only twins I found anywhere near canterbury. A remote connection is that he named a daughter Emily which is his twin sister. Also I could not find any further events for this John Baldock in England. Have you found any further events, marriages death ect for him. I had a look at your family tree. I will be getting his probate papers from New South Wales State Records soon. There maybe a remote change that his parents are stated on them. Another remote connection is another daughter Anne named her son Daniel. Of course I would love to find further info that can verify that I am on the right track. Regards Coral |
